Bulldogs beat Indians

The Seneca Indians baseball team lost 14-0 to visiting Ithaca on Thursday as Jacob Huebsch allowed one hit over four innings. 

Ithaca easily handled the Indians pitching as six hitters combined for 13 hits, 11 RBIs and 11 runs scored. 

Nick Payne was charged with the loss. He allowed eight runs in two innings, walked two and struck out two.

Ithaca defeated host Seneca 9-1 in second round Division 4 regional softball action Thursday afternoon. 

Seneca ended its season with a 12-11 overall record.

Seneca was 7-5 in the Ridge and Valley Conference.

Baures, Bloom on to State Meet

 

Two area athletes earned a trip to the State Track Meet to be held in La Crosse June 5-6. Tatem Baures of Wauzeka-Steuben won the 1600 in 5:23.58 and the 3200 in 11:51.39 at the Division 3 Bangor Sectional Friday to qualify for the State Meet. Sydney Bloom of River Ridge tied for third in the pole vault at 8-6 to qualify for State.

well at regional track meet

The Wauzeka-Steuben track team turned in a sterling performance at the Boscobel Regional Track Meet Tuesday night. The Hornet boys’ team qualified individuals in three different events for the sectional track meet at Bangor on Friday. Connor Stenner qualified for sectionals in the pole vault. Drew Zimmerman qualified in the high jump and the 3200 relay team consisting of Joel Martin, Logan Lomen, Marti Soaquin Fluis and Drew Zimmerman also qualified.

Regional Meet, boys take fourth

The River Ridge Track Team competed in the Division 3 Boscobel Regional Tuesday. 

The River Ridge girls were the Regional Champions with 120 team points. Boscobel had 113, Fennimore 101, Wauzeka-Steuben 95, De Soto 77, North Crawford 60, Kickapoo-La Farge 46, Ithaca 40 and Riverdale 28.

hosts Conference Track Meet

Prairie du Chien hosted the Southwest Wisconsin Conference Track Meet Tuesday afternoon. Dodgeville-Mineral Point won the boys meet with 191.5 points. Platteville had 178, River Valley 122, Lancaster 83.5, Prairie du Chien 57 and Richland Center 30.

 Nick Kurtz of Prairie du Chien was second in the 1600-meter run in 4:46.14.

Prairie rallies to 

beat Dodgeville

Prairie du Chien edged visiting Dodgeville 6-5 in an SWC softball game Tuesday afternoon. 

Dodgeville scored 2 runs in the top of the second to go up 2-0. 

The Dodgers scored 1 run in the top of the third, but the Lady Blackhawks scored twice in the bottom half to pull within 3-2.

Area track teams at Sparky Reynolds Invitational

Prairie du Chien, River Ridge, Wauzeka-Steuben and Seneca competed in the Sparky Reynolds Invitational Track Meet Friday in Boscobel. 

Dodgeville-Mineral Point won the boys meet with 111 points. River Ridge was ninth with 25.5. Prairie du Chien was 16th with 10 and Wauzeka-Steuben was 19th with 1.5 points. 

Jordan Kline of River Ridge was third in the 100 in 11.95.
