River Ridge gets past Belleville — River Ridge topples Heights

Third-seeded River Ridge beat sixth-seeded and visiting Belleville in a five-set thriller in a Division 3 regional semifinal Thursday night. 

The Lady Timberwolves were victorious by scores of 25-23, 24-26, 25-14, 11-25, and 15-5 to improve to 20-0 on the season.

Second-seeded Seneca beat visiting and third-seeded Highland three sets to one in a Division 4 regional final volleyball match Saturday night.

Seneca won by scores of 25-13, 25-20, 25-27, and 25-10.

Seneca will next travel to top-seeded Iowa Grant for a sectional semifinal Thursday night.

The #2 Prairie du Chien Blackhawks kicked off Level 1 of the WIAA Division 5 playoffs at home versus the #7 New Glarus-Monticello Knights on Friday night. 

The defenses shined in the first 3 quarters, as the teams combined for only 3 total touchdowns in that span.

Two area cross country runners have each earned a trip to the State Cross Country Meet in Wisconsin Rapids on Nov. 2.

Meg Katzung of Prairie du  Chien finished in fifth place at the Spring Green Golf Course Saturday morning in a Division 2 Sectional. Katzung had a time of 20:06.

It was a cold and windy night on the Bluff View pitch Tuesday when the Blackhawks hosted the Cardinals of Dodgeland/Hustisford in the first round of regional play.

Prairie had a very strong first half on both sides of the ball. The defensive back line of Joey Gourdin, Jaret Semanko on the inside and Jack Peterson and Ben LaHaie on the wings and Jonah Hornseth and Creighton Groom in rotation held the Cardinals to just 13 shots and 4 corners in the first half.

Girls:

The girls were looking to make a little noise at the conference meet. They certainly came to compete as 10 girls hit new career PR’s and an 11th hit a season PR as they headed to a 3rd place finish.

River Ridge tops Southwestern

Will Esser finds plenty of running room for a big gain.

 

River Ridge bested visiting Southwestern 47-12 in a Six Rivers football game Friday night. With the victory, River Ridge earned a spot in the WIAA Division 7 playoffs. The third-seeded Timberwolves will host the sixth-seeded Pirates of De Soto on Oct. 25.

River Ridge, playing on their Senior Night, got on the board first with a 52-yard touchdown pass from Logan Drone to Connor Mumm with 10:41 to play in the first quarter. The PAT was good and the Timberwolves went up 7-0.

The River Ridge High School volleyball team has had another outstanding season and is poised to go deep into the Division 3 playoffs, beginning on Tuesday night, Oct. 22, when the third-seeded Lady Timberwolves host 14th-seeded Boscobel.
