After a slow start at Oelwein, Central cross country excels at MFL MarMac

Gavin Holst saw his first action as a member of the varsity team at the Sept. 2 meet, where he finished 12th out of 46 runners with a time of 19:18.

Taylor Moser turned in a 13th place finish at the Sept. 2 meet.

Brayden Finley competed hard in Central's first two cross country meets.

Grau and Koether lead Bulldog cross country effort on tough Tri City course

MFL MarMac junior Will Koether (front, right) placed 20th with a time of 20:03.3 in the Sept. 2 home meet. Teammate Caleb Nordheim (front, left) was 30th, while Bobby Kober (back, right) took 32nd.

Ruby Koeller finished 24th at Tri City, turning in a time of 27:38.7.

Tucker Ruff edges past a North Fayette Valley runner at the Sept. 2 meet, en route to a 21st place finish.

Kaylee Walch ran well in the team's opening meet.

Bulldogs overcome early deficit in win over Clayton Ridge

When Clayton Ridge packed the box, Bulldog quarterback Carver Blietz-Bentien ran more with the football, totaling 74 yards on nine carries. He also threw the ball 12 times, completing five passes for 102 yards and two touchdowns.

Josh Reichard and the strong MFL MarMac offensive line made the night easier for the team's passing and rushing attacks.

MFL MarMac runs past New Hampton in interesting season opener

Defensive lineman Tristen Koehn (right) led the Bulldogs in tackles, with eight total, and recovered a fumble.

Sophomore quarterback Carver Blietz-Bentien was a factor in the MFL MarMac ground game, rushing for 34 yards and a touchdown on six carries. He threw the ball just five times, but completed three passes for 100 yards and a TD.

MFL MarMac’s strong offensive line, including Corbin McElwaine (62, left) and Hunter Meyer (53, right), kept quarterback Carver Blietz-Bentien protected and paved the way for 405 Bulldog rushing yards in the 42-14 win over New Hampton.
