Kesang M. Olsen

Kesang Marisa Olsen, beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend, passed away on Sept. 3, 2021. Born in Kathmandu, Nepal, on Oct. 24, 1992, Kesang (Kessi) moved to northeast Iowa at age 3 and later lived, traveled and studied in diverse cultures. Kessi attended high school at Colegio Americano de Guatemala, graduating in 2011. She attended Augsburg University where she majored in journalism and communication studies, graduating with Suma Cum Laude honors in 2015.

Judith J. Burgess

Judith Jane Burgess, 74, passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 12, 2021. Judi was born on Dec. 24, 1946, to Vernon and Virginia (Martin) Ames in Waukon. She and her seven siblings were raised in the country in McGregor, where they attended a one room schoolhouse. When she reached middle school age, she attended Mar-Mac Middle and High School also in McGregor. In the eighth grade, she met Richard “Andy” Anderson (aka “Dick” in his youth), and they dated throughout high school. She graduated from Mar-Mac High School in 1964, and in 1965, Andy and Judi were married.

Deloris C. Morris

Deloris Catherine (Gusta) Morris, 92, of Strawberry Point, formerly of Oelwein, passed away on Jan. 9, 2021, at the Guttenberg Care Center due to COVID-19. She was born on April 13, 1928, in Elkader, and was the only daughter of Elmer and Florence (Seeland) Gusta. Deloris graduated from Strawberry Point High School in 1946 and attended Pitzies Cosmetology School in Waterloo in 1947. On April 26, 1947, Deloris was married to William C. Morris at St. John’s Catholic Church in Waterloo.

Traditions return for MFL MarMac homecoming


The 1971 MFL football team, which went undefeated and won the Upper Iowa Conference title, will serve as the grand marshal of the homecoming parade. It’s just one of many highlights planned for the week, which will run from Sept. 19-25.
