Bulldogs sweep Postville doubleheader, lose close games to Waukon and SW

Max Havlicek continued to pitch well for the Bulldogs, allowing one hit, one walk and one earned run in an inning against Postville on June 1. He then worked five strong innings against South Winn on June 3, surrendering seven hits, two walks and just one earned run. He struck out five South Winn batters.

Richard L. Stickler

Richard Lee Stickler, 76, died June 5, 2021, at his home in Monona. He was born on March 21, 1945, to Perl and Ina May (Butler) Stickler in Wolf Lake, Ind. He graduated from Arizona State University in 1969 with a bachelor’s of science in electronic technology with distinction, which he celebrated with a new pair of cowboy boots and a brand new 1969 Chevelle.

Ivan Meisner

Ivan Meisner, 77, of Garnavillo, passed away on May 31, 2021, at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Ivan was born on Dec. 11, 1943, in rural Elgin, to Harold and Selma Friederich Meisner. He was baptized and confirmed at the Highland Lutheran Church. He was a current member of St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg.

George H. Wolf

George Henry Wolf, 77, of Osceola, died Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Taylor House in Des Moines. George was born on June 18, 1943, to Don C. Wolf and June (Meyer) Wolf. The first couple years of his life, he and his mother lived with his beloved uncle and aunt, Ray and Ruth Ruegnitz, on their farm near Elkport, while his father Don served in the Army stationed in London, England, during World War II. Also helping take care of him in those early years were his beloved uncle and aunt Glenn and Mildred Stannard of Cedar Rapids. He was lucky also to live near his grandparents, George H. and Emma Meyer and Hank and Olivia Wolf. His grandfather, George H.
