Joseph Anthony Vlazny, 63, died suddenly on Feb. 5, 2021, on the family farm in rural Farmersburg. He was born Aug. 3, 1957, in Fairbank. He attended St. Patrick's Catholic School and graduated from MFL High School in 1975. He was raised Catholic and was an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, where, as a young boy, he served as an altar boy and played the organ.

Robert G. 'Bob' Davies

Robert Griff (Bob) Davies, 69, of McGregor, died Monday, Feb. 8, 2021, at his home in McGregor. He was born Oct. 27, 1951, in Iowa City, to Towyn and Pauline (Hanft) Davies. He graduated from Washington High School and received his B.A. from the University of Northern Iowa. He married Joann Burns on April 17, 2001.

After 130 years, Glesnes are saying goodbye to Coast to Coast

Six MFL MarMac group speech teams compete in state contest

Among those earning straight ones was the group improv team of Nick Stavroplus (left), Jaxton Schroeder, Will Koether and Jonah Wille.

Overall ones went to Clare Grau, Amara Buchheit and Kaylee Nuehring in ensemble acting. They are pictured with coaches Diane Fisk, Angie Killian and Melissa Haberichter.

An all-freshman group of Kaylee Nuehring (left), Mindy Keehner, Amelya Weigand and Clare Grau (not pictured) was recognized with straight ones in radio broadcasting.

Jonah Wille (left), Ruby Koeller, Abby Schellhorn, Hailee Corlett, Rose Grau and Riley Whitney got straight ones for their musical theater performance of “Cell Block Tango” from the musical “Chicago.” They are pictured with coach Diane Fisk.

Receiving overall ones in TV broadcast were Hailee Corlett (left), Abby Schellhorn, Emme Schroeder and Jordyn Jones. Not pictured are Franci Mezera, Shelby Mielke and Sydney Moser.

Dusty Berns and his teammates Franci Mezera, Lauren Haberichter and Carlie Jones, who were not pictured, picked up an overall one rating in radio broadcasting.
