Clayton County Development Group holds annual meeting, bestows awards


The Clayton County Development Group (CCDG) annual meeting was held at the Casino Queen in the SEVENS room in Marquette on July 27. CCDG handed out several awards at the event. Attending were state representatives Anne Osmundson and Michael Bergan, SBA Business Consultant Jo Eckart and Iowa Works Administrator Bill Minnick, Clayton County Supervisors Sharon Keehner and Ray Peterson and honorary mayors Bill Frommelt of Guttenberg and Eric Koenig of Monona.

Monica and Paul Tiffany, the owners of McGregor-based Tiffany and Weller, share their personalities through the store’s popular wooden signs, as well as in connections with customers. Tiffany and Weller offers decor in what owner Monica Tiffany described as a “farmhouse chic style.” They have also developed a line of soaps and lotions, and Paul began crafting pieces of furniture and charcuterie boards.

Gwen C. Eilers

Gwen Carole Eilers, 79, of Luana, died Friday, July 23, 2021, at Northgate Care Center, Waukon. Gwen was born May 3, 1942, in Palmer, Alaska, to Carl and Edithbelle (Heller) Wilson. From Palmer, the family moved to Fairbanks, Alaska. In 1954, Gwen's parents, her and her two brothers, Rocky and Terry, moved to Chena Hot Springs, travelling through wilderness and over mountains. She and her brothers were homeschooled by Edithbelle for a time. Gwen went to high school in Fairbanks and graduated from there.

Terry F. Kaber

Terry F. Kaber passed away at his home away from home, Brookdale Memory Care in LaCrosse, Wis., on July 22.  Terry was born on Sept. 21, 1938, in Prairie du Chien, Wis., to Clifford F. Kaber and Orpha V. (Valley) Kaber. His elementary school years were concluded at St. John’s Catholic School; he graduated from Prairie du Chien High School in 1956 and Wisconsin State College (now UW LaCrosse) in 1961.
